Rikki "Rick" King Wednesday, August 1, 1956 - Thursday, June 29, 2017

Rikki “Rick” King, of Santa Maria, California, passed peacefully on June 29, 2017, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He resided in Santa Barbara County for the past 58 years.

A family man, Rick most loved spending time with his wife and sons, shooting and off-roading in the Pismo Dunes. He will forever be remembered as a jokester, story teller, and the life of the party. A great cook, Rick could fire up a BBQ quicker than invite you in for a drink. He loved helping friends with household projects and was always the first to lend a hand. His memory impressed everyone and, to the end, he maintained his reign as Jeopardy Champion of the King Household. Rick was passionate about Rock ‘n’ Roll and rarely missed a good concert at the SB Bowl. He was also an avid Dodger fan but it was probably more about spending time with family.

Rick worked as an IBEW Local 413 electrician for 35 years before retiring in 2014. Through his work on countless construction projects – from nuclear and solar plants, to space shuttle platforms, and the giant golf ball atop Orcutt Hill – Rick undeniably helped to reshape the face of the Central Coast.

Rick is survived by his wife Rhonda of nearly 40 years, sons Jarod (Lara) and Matthew (Elin), sister Cheri Womack Sexton, brothers Michael and Kerry, a large extended family and countless friends that will miss him dearly. Rick was a loving father, husband, and friend to all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jessalee.

Memorial Services will be held at Dudley-Hoffman Chapel, located at 1003 East Stowell Rd, Santa Maria, CA, on July 14th at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to Dignity Health Hospice, c/o Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation, 1400 E. Church St, Santa Maria, CA 93454
