Raymond V Santana Friday, June 9, 1933 - Monday, May 29, 2017

Raymond V Santana, 83, of Santa Maria, CA passed away on May 29, 2017 in his home with his family by his side. Ray was born in Santa Maria, CA on June 9, 1933. The son of Ramon and Julia Santana, he was raised in Guadalupe and attended local area schools.

Ray served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from the Army he began working in the drywall industry in which he eventually retired from in the early 90’s.

Ray met Katheryn Waller in 1958 with whom he quickly fell in love with. The two married and had two children. Ray comes from a large family and was one of nine children. Loved by many, he was the family jokester always getting a laugh or smile for his facial expressions, sound effects or silly actions. He greatly enjoyed family gatherings, camping trips to Lake Tahoe and was an avid Los Angeles Angels fan. He spent countless afternoons and evenings in front of the TV cheering his team on and attended several games. He couldn’t get enough.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife Katheryn Jeanette Santana in 1991 and his son-in-law Simon Hakker in 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Monica Santana Hakker of Nipomo, CA and his son, Raymond Waller Santana III, and his wife Pam of Santa Maria, CA. Ray had five grandchildren, Garett, Colette and Lysette Spurgeon, all from Hanford, CA and Sydney and Madison Santana, of Santa Maria, CA. He also had one great granddaughter, Drew Baxter, of Hanford, CA.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Hatem K Mezer, Maria and Staff and Dignity Health Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to your favorite charity in memory of Raymond.

Graveside services will held at the Santa Maria Cemetery, Santa Maria CA on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 11:00 am.
