Mary Margaret Jarvis "Margaret" Saturday, January 24, 1925 - Saturday, May 6, 2017

Margaret passed away Saturday May 06 2017 from natural causes. She was born
in Morrilton Arkansas to James Marion Stallings and Iva E Stallings. She was
raised in a house without plumbing or electricity. Her primary education was in a
two room schoolhouse. She graduated from Morrilton High School in 1943. After
graduation Margaret moved to Little Rock AR with her widowed mother and
siblings. There she met the love of her life James W Jarvis. They were married in
1946 and moved to Santa Maria in 1948. In 1952 their only son, James Jr. was
born.
Margaret started her long career in real estate working for a title insurance
company, eventually retiring from her own company Jarvis Real Estate.
Margaret was an active person with many interests: she enjoyed outdoor pursuits
such as camping, boating, photographing wildflowers, and just a simple afternoon
drive. She raised orchids and African violets. She played cards and especially
liked her bridge group. Margaret was an outstanding cook, known for her
fabulous desserts. Margaret loved to travel, whether in the R.V. or flying over the
Ocean. She was amazed that a little girl from rural Arkansas could grow up and
visit the Great Wall of China and the Parthenon in Greece.
Margaret is preceded in death by her father James Marion Stallings, her mother
Iva McClung, her stepfather Wiley McClung, her sister Evelyn Obrien, and
brothers James Stallings and Gustave Stallings.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Mary Jarvis, and
grandchildren Ben, Alice and Sam Jarvis.
The family will hold a memorial service for Margaret on May 23,2017 at 11:00
a.m. at the Heritage Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 4799 S. Bradley Rd., Santa
Maria, with a reception to follow.
