Louis Paul Fernandes Jr. Tuesday, September 20, 1932 - Friday, May 26, 2017

Louis Paul Fernandes Jr. passed away the evening of Friday, May 26, 2017. Louie was born September 20, 1932 in Santa Maria, CA to Louis Paul Fernandes Sr. and Rose Agnes Romo Fernandes. After high school, Louis spent his time as a roofer, herding cattle, and hauling produce for over 25 years.
He married the love of his life, Elizabeth G. Panos on September 23, 1950. Together, they had three children, Frank Louis Fernandes; Steve James Fernandes; and Renee Louise Fernandes.
Louie loved his morning coffee, attending gun shows and hunting. He could sit and tell stories about his childhood, the history of his family and Santa Maria, for hours. Those that knew him well, knew he couldn’t hear a word you were saying, but had no problem carrying on a lengthy conversation.
Louis is survived by his son, Frank L. Fernandes; daughter-in-law Judy Fernandes; grandchildren Teena Adam (Jimmy); Steve J. Fernandes Jr. (Lisa); Catrina Fernandes (Jared); Stephanie Claborn (Joey); Louis P. Fernandes; Sarah Brown (Mike); Frank L. Fernandes; Christopher Fernandes; Tony Boomer Mari; great grandchildren Tanner Fite; Cody Fernandes; DJ Claborn; Zachary Brown; Braden Claborn; Peyton Adam; Demetri Brown; Troy Fernandes; Emalee Fernandes; Stevie Brown; Jaice Thomas Moreno; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Paul Fernandes Sr. and Rose Agnes Hansen; his wife, Elizabeth G. Fernandes; brother Mickey Hansen; son Steve J. Fernandes Sr.; daughter Renee Louise Fernandes; and daughter-in-law Charlotte Fernandes.
The Fernandes family would like to thank Dr. Vara, the many doctors, nurses and Hospice caregivers at Marian Hospital.
A graveside service will be this Friday, June 2, 2017 - 11:00am at the Santa Maria Cemetery.

Popouli - I miss you so much.  I miss walking down the hall in the morning to see you sitting in the chair drinking your coffee and watching CNN.  I miss you saying..."Well I am going to see what everyone is up to" when you were ready to start your day.  I was blessed to have had you in my life for 44 years.  I am happy you, Yia Yia, Uncle Steve, Aunt Renee and my mom are all together again.  Your cancer is gone and there is no more suffering.  Thank you for being you and making a difference in my life.

Well written obituary. Even though we had our differences I did and always respected Louis. From the first day I met Louis he reminded me of Ben Cartright from the show Bonanza. He stories about his life and his family I could listen to them forever. Louis (Louie that is what I called him.) I will miss him R.I.P.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He sounded like a wonderful man. He was loved by many.
