Jennie Frances Rojas, 94 of Santa Maria, CA went to be with her Lord Jesus whom she loved unconditionally on June 28, 2017 at her home. Jennie was born in Goleta, CA on March 9, 1923 to John and Margerite Bourbon. At 9 months old she moved to Santa Maria Valley in a covered wagon with her parents and sister. She has seen many changes that have happened in the 94 years of her life.
Jennie attended various schools here in Santa Maria, completed up to the10th grade at Santa Maria High School. She fondly remembered Ethel Pope her Principal at the time.
Jennie was a homemaker taking care of her 9 children. She was a great cook making homemade tortillas, chili beans and enchiladas as many of our favorite foods. She loved reading her bibles, decorating cards with much glitter, also loved sitting on her front porch as everyday was a beautiful day to her! She loved telling jokes and making us all laugh as silly as they may have been. She told us many stories of her past growing up good, bad or indifferent it was her way of giving us her life history to pass on to our children. Her family was considered pioneers of this valley.
Jennie is survived by her 2 brothers Angel and Jimmy Bourbon and sister Marcella Ontiveros along with her 9 children, Margaret Mays, Pauline Carnes, Victor De La Fuente (Marine Vet), Pat Greene, Donnie Greene, Pamela Hand, Priscilla Nanninga, Cindy and spouse Mike Knoeck and John Saenz. Also 14 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jennie was preceded in death by her daughter Charlotte Diane, parents, 7 Bourbon brothers and 1 sister.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and Hospice nurses that helped with our mothers care.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Paralyzed Veterans Affairs in memory of Jennie Frances Rojas.
