Carl William Johnson Saturday, September 12, 1925 - Monday, June 5, 2017
Carl William Johnson 91, of Santa Maria CA passed away on June 5, 2017. Carl was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 12, 1925 to Agnes and Carl Johnson. He moved with his family to Santa Maria in March 1960, joining the aerospace industry. He worked and retired from Rockwell International as a Quality Control Engineer.
While in Chicago, Carl finished school and joined the US Coast Guard. He was a proud veteran of WWII. Carl was proud to always fly the American Flag at our home. He also earned the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a troop leader as his son grew up and was so proud when his Grandson Steven also became an Eagle Scout.
Carl was a 42 year member of Elks Lodge #1538, serving on a barbeque team for many years. He loved to camp, fish, play golf and always enjoyed reaping the benefits of his garden and fruit trees.
Carl is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alta Rose Johnson. He is also survived by son Gary (Susie) Johnson of Lancaster CA, daughters, Janet (Tom) Bernard of Palmdale CA and Joyce (Pete) Mullenbach of Whittier CA, grandsons and great grandchildren, Eric (Julie) Seth, Luke, Faith and Mark of Montana, Mike (Sarah) Keith, Kyle, Kate and Kenzie of Victorville CA, Christopher (Christine) Bowman of San Francisco CA, and Abraham Bowman of Stevenson Ranch CA, Steven Bernard of Santa Monica CA, Granddaughter Leah Bernard Markiewitz (Jonathon) Connor and Liam of Las Vegas NV.
Carl is also survived by his stepchildren Ed McGready (Kendee) of Santa Maria CA, Robert McGready (Marissa) of Oakhurst CA, Teri McGready Supa (Mark) of Santa Maria CA and his grandchildren Shelbee McGready Chrest (Brandon) of Fresno CA, Ryan McGready of Santa Maria CA, Wyatt, Logan and Megan Supa of Santa Maria CA.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, baby sister Joan, twin brother Ralph and his first wife Rosemary.
Visitation will be held Sunday June 11, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00PM with Rosary from 6:00PM to 7:00PM at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary.
As a member of St. Louis de Montfort Church a funeral mass will be held Monday June 12, 2017 at 11:00AM followed by graveside services at Santa Maria Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Choi, Dr. Ethan Etnyre and his staff, all the caring, patient, understanding nurses at Marian Regional Health Center and the loving, caring, understanding, kind and cheerful caregivers at Primrose Care Home and Central Coast Hospice.
